CCNA INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

1. What is routing?
The network layer devices, which allow finding a shortest route to pass data from source to destination, are called as routers and the process is called routing.
2.What is sub netting? Why it is used?
The process of breaking the larger networks into smaller sub networks is called sub netting. It is used in IP Networks. It is commonly used for managing the network, optimizing the performance and minimizing the network traffic. Each subnet acts as an identifier to identify the subnet number.
3.What is VLAN? What does it provide?
Virtual local area network (VLAN) is a process of segmenting or grouping a network, which is connected to define ports on a switch, they provide flexibility, security and broadcast control.
4.What is transmission and how it is differ from communication?
Transmission is nothing but the process of transferring the data from source to destination whereas the communication is the process of exchanging the data from source to destination.
5.What is the difference between hub and switch?
Hub: It operates at physical layer. It does no filtering and no addressing, it creates single broadcast and collision domain. When signal arrives it forwards to all the ports.
Switch: it operates mainly at data link layer and sometimes at network layer of the OSI reference model. It has single broadcast domain and multiple collision domains. It forwards and filters packets between LAN segments.
6.What is protocol?
Protocol is a set of rules that enables gadgets to connect and transmit the data to one another. In data communication, the rules usually govern a format. It describes that how the data is transmitted over networks and between computing devices.
7.What is 100BaseFX?
100BaseFX is the fast Ethernet whose transmission medium is the fiber optics. The data speed is 100Mbps and it is used for wiring campus backbone.
8.What is full duplex and how it is different from half duplex?
In full duplex both the transmission and reception can be done by both of the device at the same time. In the case of half duplex a device cannot transmit while it is receiving and vice versa.
9.What is a frame relay?
It is a packet-switched technology. It operates at physical and data link layers. It provides connection oriented communication by maintaining and creating virtual circuits. It has a high performance rating.
10.How does IGRP differ from RIP?
·         IGRP is a hybrid routing protocol whereas RIP is a vector routing protocol.
·         IGRP sends triggered updates and RIP sends full updates whenever network change occurs.
·         SAP FICO-IGRP uses dual method in calculating the route paths while RIP uses bellmen ford algorithm to calculate the paths.
